Mind over Matter
What do you think of when you hear the saying or the statement, "Mind over Matter"? I saw a workout T-shirt with that on it the other day and even though I have seen and heard that statement hundreds of times there was something that leaped in my spirit that day when I read it. I got a different perspective of the phrase as it relates to my our spiritual walk with God.
In the meaning for the T-Shirt they were wanting to let the person working out be reminded that this journey of working out is going to take discipline and determination. It will take sweat and hard work. That your mindset will have to change because there will be times when you feel like you can't lift another weight or that you can finish that last mile and there must be something in you you that says I will finish my assignment.
The Holy Spirit, spoke to me at that moment and said that I would need to develop my mind over matter mindset. I began to realize that for the assignment and calling that God has on my life I will need to get ready to change my mindset for my spiritual journey.
You see, a lot of our battles spiritually happen in the mind. This is where fear, doubt, low self-esteem, envy and strife like to hang out. They get comfortable, spread and grow and take over and some how sneak in and find their way to our heart. The word says, in Proverbs 23:7, "For as he thinketh in his heart so is he", so know that a lot of sin starts with a thought in the mind. Pondering, wondering, sometimes even playing it out in your head. Then the next thing you know you are trying something out that you know God did not call you too.
In this season we must practice keeping our mind on God and the things of heaven. Then make sure we keep our minds over the matters of our flesh. God has given us the power over everything, if we keep our minds on Him.
Just wanted to encourage someone to make sure to study the word of God, pray and keep your mind on Jesus! This will be the greatest form of Mind over Matter!
God Bless!
