God is BIGGER than Hate!

As I watch all of the horrible things that are happening in the world today I feel myself and my feelings unraveling at times. It makes me feel very sad to know that there is so much hate in this world. With all the police killings of innocent black men and women, killings of children and the mistreatment of the elderly, human trafficking, wars and rumor of wars, sickness and death, it can become overwhelming to process. We have all of this to process while in the midst of a deadly pandemic which has caused even more people to be selfish and isolated from others and from reality, so it can be very easy to fall into the trap of the enemy and begin to hate.

When I began to think of my husband and my son who are black men it was easy for me to begin to feel anger. Why would people hate someone simply because of the color of their skin? Why do people kill babies and steal the lives of woman and put them into slavery and bondage in sex trafficking rings? Why? No matter how angry I feel about any of these truths I CHOOSE love over hate. This is because Christ lives in me.

You see, God is so much bigger than any amount of hate that this world can dish out. It may seem like the ugly monster of racism is running rampant and out of control with all the prejudgements and prejudices that can fuel the beast, but because of Christ I know love still covers all and is much bigger.

As a Christian, I must be the light. We must be the light to the world. As the world gets darker and darker we must remember to let our light shine brighter and brighter. It is hard and can truly be a difficult thing to do, but we must give love to those who give hate. Love is not something we do only when we want or only for those who we like or feel deserve it. If we want to be like Christ, then we will follow His actions and love all people, even those who hate and mistreat us. The Bible says, "Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8 NLT

God is love, so that is how I know that He is bigger than any hate that this world can produce.

While hate may spread like a deadly virus, God has sent us to be the antidote and to heal the broken hearts and to kill any hate that might live in those hearts. While it seems hate is growing in the hearts of man, it is amazing how God always shows me the love that is happening all around us and in the world. It gives me hope to keep loving.

It is a constant reminder that love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8) and that my God is BIGGER than any hate in this world!
